Welcome to Read Schmead! My name is Jessica and I may look like an adult, but trust me, I am a kid through and through. I started this blog to help kids, young adults, parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, or just about anyone find some good kid and young adult books. I was working at Latitude 33 Bookshop in Laguna Beach, but unfortunately we closed the doors permanently at the end of August 2011. I spent 3.5 years there and it was utterly fantastic. I was able to learn so much about the book business, both good and bad. Luckily another independent bookstore has adopted me!!! I am currently working at A Whale of a Tale Bookshoppe in Irvine, California. I know there is tons more for me to learn and there is no better person to teach me than the owner at A Whale of a Tale!
Oh, by the way, I finished my Masters in May 2011! Woohoo! What am I going to do with that, you might be asking. We will just have to see. I am considering the circus.
At any rate, I love anything and everything that tells a good story so I hope you find this blog at least somewhat helpful and mildly entertaining.
